Travel Health

Check your medical plan to see what type of coverage you have while travelling and consider purchasing additional travel health insurance for when you are away. Your TravelPlus consultant can explain the added benefits that travel insurance has over and above your standard coverage.

While travelling, keep copies of your health insurance policy and provincial health card with you in case of emergencies. Carry all medication with you and in an easily accessible place. If you are going on a long trip, have a complete medical and dental examination before you go. Depending on your destination, you may require specific immunizations. If you are going to an exotic destination, you may also want to research the types of diseases common to the area you'll be visiting and take actions to prevent your exposure to those diseases. While your TravelPlus consultant can provide you with basic travel health information including worldwide endemic areas for diseases, visit a travel health clinic for expert advice specific to your destination.
